Hetmancev on taxes and corruption during the war
The head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation, and Customs Policy, Danilo Hetmancev, stated that during the full-scale war, it was possible to collect more taxes than in peacetime. According to him, this happened thanks to the fight against corruption.
Hetmancev said this in an interview for Novyny.LIVE.
In the interview, Hetmancev stated that Ukraine managed to preserve its financial system and collect more taxes even during the war. He believes that this was made possible by eliminating corruption schemes and making the right management decisions.
'I think we have to thank the government, Prime Minister Shmyhal, primarily for two important things: for the fact that people withstood the blow and undoubtedly for European integration.'
We preserved the hryvnia, the payment system, and the banking system. But most importantly – we collected more taxes during the war than before it, breaking the corruption schemes that prevented this. Such a thing has never happened in world history.', - noted the official.
In particular, he emphasized that besides financial stability, an important achievement was the breakthrough in European integration. According to him, Ukraine has fulfilled more conditions for joining the EU in recent years than throughout its entire independence.
'We have made significant progress in European integration', - summarized Hetmancev.
Earlier, the prosecutor's office reported how Kyiv is fighting corruption among the authorities.
We also reported that a series of criminal cases were opened in Kyiv against officials of the Kyiv City State Administration, who caused losses of nearly 200 million hryvnias.
During the war, Ukraine managed to maintain financial stability and collect more taxes, which became possible thanks to the fight against corruption. The head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance believes that the country has also made significant progress in European integration and has fulfilled more conditions for joining the EU in recent years.Read also
