No more than 220: Ukraine will switch to a new voltage standard.

Ukraine is transitioning to European power supply standards
Starting from July 1, 2025, Ukraine will officially switch to a nominal voltage of 230/400 V according to European standards. This is an important step towards integrating the national energy system into the European one. This was reported by the National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Public Utilities (NKREKP). The regulator emphasized that clear quality parameters for electricity supply and allowable voltage deviation limits - from 207 to 253 V, which represents ±10% of the nominal value of 230 V, are being established as part of the reform.
'These changes are expected to positively impact the quality of electricity supply. Stable voltage will reduce the risks of damage to household appliances sensitive to fluctuations, as well as lower the need for additional protection measures, such as stabilizers,' the commission noted.
Experts from NKREKP emphasize that the enhancement of power supply standards will also contribute to increasing energy efficiency, as electrical appliances will be able to operate in optimal mode, avoiding overloads and unnecessary power losses.
The regulatory framework for these changes has been prepared in advance. The National Standardization Body of Ukraine 'UkrNDNC' approved the new version of the relevant national standard, harmonized with the European one, by its order dated May 23, 2024, No. 179. This document entered into force on March 1, 2025.
For the complete implementation of the new technical requirements, NKREKP adopted a resolution on April 15 titled 'On Approval of Changes to the Distribution System Code'. The document, in particular, details the provisions regarding the implementation of new voltage level values according to the updated standard.
