The borscht index has been updated again: Ukrainians revealed the real cost of the main dish.


Experts from the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business conducted an analysis of food prices for June. According to their data, the cost of making borscht has risen significantly - by 27% compared to last year, but in the last month the price has decreased by 12%.
To make borscht, you need to buy cabbage, beets, potatoes, carrots, onions, tomato paste, oil, pork ribs, and spices. If you add bread, sour cream, and garlic to the dish, the total cost of borscht will be 206 hryvnias, which is 26 hryvnias less than a month ago.

Experts use the 'borscht index' to compare the prices of products in different regions. It is also noted that prices for bakery products have increased. The price of bread has risen by 18% over the year, but only by 1% over the last month. It is predicted that bread prices will rise by 20% due to the increasing cost of ingredients.
In addition, attention should be paid to prices for canned corn and peas.
