NATO begins institutional audit of Ukraine's military education system.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is starting an institutional audit of higher military educational institutions to obtain diploma recognition in NATO member states. If the audit is successful, it will allow for the certification of professional military education courses according to NATO standards and make the documents for their completion recognized in NATO member states. This will ensure the interoperability of Ukrainian military educational structures with NATO educational structures.
The audit will be conducted in several stages with funding from partners in Lithuania. NATO experts will provide the criteria for compliance and evaluation for the institutions, after which the audit and final certification of professional military education courses will take place. In May, higher military educational institutions and educational units of higher education institutions must prepare self-assessment reports and fill out questionnaires regarding compliance with NATO criteria.
From June to September, NATO experts will examine the prepared reports and questionnaires, and in the fall, they will arrive in Ukraine to meet with representatives of the military education system. The final report of the auditors is expected in December 2025.
'The results of the institutional audit of the military education system will reflect the implementation of the recommendations based on the results of the 2020 audit. Professional military education in Ukraine is gradually developing,' said the Director of the Military Education and Science Department of the Ministry of Defense, Volodymyr Mirnenko.
