Particular Case: Merz Named Condition for Ukraine's Accession to NATO and the EU.

Friedrich Merz, a likely candidate for Chancellor of Germany, stated that Ukraine cannot join the EU and NATO while the war is ongoing. He emphasized that Ukraine is a large European country but cannot become a member of these organizations while at war. He also noted that the main role in establishing peace lies with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Merz warned against underestimating Russia's endurance and said that the war could end due to the country's exhaustion or political reactions against the regime. He avoided answering questions about his policy towards Ukraine as Chancellor, explaining that it requires coordination with European partners. Merz also did not announce Germany's participation in the security forces for Ukraine, stating that it depends on the end of the war and the availability of a plan.
