Customers Forced Mercedes to Continue Production of Popular Model.

The company Mercedes-Benz planned to stop production of the A-Class vehicles by 2026. However, the huge demand for the model forced the German giant to continue their production at least until 2028.
This was reported by Motor1.
Reasons for Continuation
The Mercedes A-Class will remain in the lineup even after the launch of the new CLA. The reason is stable demand, especially in the European market. In Germany alone, nearly 8000 new A-Class cars were sold in the first half of 2025.
The high demand for the A-Class generation introduced in 2018 is linked to the pricing of the cars. In Germany, the 5-door A 180 starts at 34,252 euros, while the new electric CLA starts at around 56,000 euros, and even with an internal combustion engine, it is unlikely to be available for under 40,000 euros.
Change of Course
At the beginning of 2024, the company underwent a strategic shift. If in 2021 the CEO of Mercedes, Ola Källenius, talked about the goal of only selling fully electric new cars by 2030, then in last year's financial results report, it was already mentioned that the company expects BEV and PHEV sales to reach 50% of the total volume in the second half of the decade.
It is quite appropriate that in the future, the company will offer both electric and internal combustion engine models in one body. Similar to what BMW has been doing for some Time, for example, with the 5 Series and i5.
The demand for the Mercedes A-Class in 2025 was so high that the company decided to continue the model's production at least until 2028. This is part of Mercedes-Benz's strategy focused on combining electric and traditional models in its portfolio.Read also
