Social media popular chocolate caused a global pistachio shortage.

A serious problem has arisen in the world regarding pistachio supplies due to the unexpected popularity of Dubai chocolate on social media. This chocolate brand FIX, which combines pistachio cream, kataifi dough, and milk chocolate, has become a viral hit and has led to massive demand. With poor harvests in the USA, nut stocks were already reduced, but now prices for pistachios have suddenly skyrocketed. In fact, the world has depleted its pistachio reserves. There are also reports of a shortage of kataifi - a very crispy dough. Even though the original producer sells its chocolate bars only in the United Arab Emirates, social media has made this dessert popular worldwide, leading to the emergence of counterfeits. Ukrainians have also shown significant interest in this chocolate in 2024.
Recently, a new unique dessert has been launched on the European market, which has already become the subject of widespread discussion on social media. It is called 'hairy chocolate' or 'angel's hair'. This dessert has become an alternative to the popular Dubai chocolate.
The mentioned news reveals the problem of global shortages of pistachios and kataifi due to the wide popularity of Dubai chocolate on social media. Chocolate manufacturers are mass purchasing pistachios, causing a shortage and a significant increase in their price. Additionally, there has been a shortage of kataifi in chocolate production. This demonstrates how social media can massively influence consumption and lead to unforeseen consequences in the global economy.
