Border guards detained draft evaders attempting to swim across the Dniester in fins.

Attempt of illegal border crossing in Mohyliv-Podilskyi region
Border guards of the Mohyliv-Podilskyi squad detected an attempt of illegal border crossing. At night, individuals were noticed trying to cross the Dniester river by swimming to reach the neighboring country. This was reported by Hlavkom referencing the border guard squad.
Two 48-year-old residents of Dnipropetrovsk region were detained. The men chose field and detour roads to avoid checkpoints and to reach the river unnoticed. They had life jackets, fins, and also packed documents and valuables in waterproof zip bags.
According to border guards, the men had prepared for the 'crossing' in advance: they had life jackets and fins with them. Documents and valuable items were securely packed in waterproof zip bags.
However, due to the prompt actions of the border guards, the attempt was stopped. Offenders were charged under Art. 204-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses 'Illegal crossing or attempt to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine'.
We remind you that earlier, border service employees rescued a man who also attempted to illegally cross the border via the Tysa river.
The thwarted attempt of illegal border crossing in the Mohyliv-Podilskyi region demonstrates the constant readiness of border guards to protect the state border from illegal actions. Even when using rescue means and panic, they attempt to cross the border.Read also
