France and the United Kingdom are preparing a peace plan for Ukraine that they plan to present to the United States. The leaders of the two countries have spoken with Trump and Zelensky and are trying to restore relations between the US and Ukraine ahead of possible negotiations. The deterioration in relations has allowed Europe to develop ideas for a peace plan that includes a short-term ceasefire and broader security guarantees. The President of France and a European diplomat have stated that the plan will be prepared over the next few days. If conditions are created, this could open doors for new meetings between European leaders and President Trump in Washington.
Details of the plan are not being disclosed, but one option is a partial one-month ceasefire that would cover attacks from the air and sea. Zelensky has stated that he is ready to come to the negotiating table and support the ceasefire plans. France and Europe are trying to restore the connection between the US and Ukraine.
