A family saved the lives of others by consenting to posthumous organ donation
In Vinnytsia, a family saved the lives of four people by agreeing to posthumous organ donation from their relative. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing the Minister of Health Viktor Liashko.
After the diagnosis of brain death in a 43-year-old man, the deceased's family allowed his organs to be taken for transplantation to patients in need. A 36-year-old Vitaliy, who had previously been diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, received a new heart.
The kidneys and liver became a chance for life for three Ukrainian women. All four patients are already home, and their recovery is ongoing.
