US Plans to Deploy Typhoon Missile Systems in Japan.

The US plans to install the medium-range missile system Typhon in Japan for joint military exercises.

This was reported by The Japan Times, citing statements from US Army Secretary Christine Wormuth.

"You know, I think it would be very interesting for us, obviously, to see a multi-domain task force in action in Japan. We have clearly indicated our interest in this to the Japanese Self-Defense Forces," Wormuth said.

She also noted that she had a "wonderful" visit to Japan and met with Defense Minister Minoru Kihara. According to her, the deployment of the Typhon system will be carried out at the pace set by the Japanese government.

It is noted that this is already the second Time that Washington has deployed missile systems in Asia after signing the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) in 1987 between the USSR and the US. According to the treaty, all ground-based missiles with a range of 500 to 5500 kilometers were banned. In 2019, the administration of then-President Donald Trump withdrew from the treaty, and in April of this year, the United States deployed the Typhon during exercises in the Philippines.
