Ukraine has been in a state of war for a long Time, and every explosion can cause psychological trauma to people, especially those who have experienced combat. Therefore, a ban on the use of pyrotechnics with loud and bright effects has been introduced in our country.
Experts from 'Free Legal Aid' spoke about the legal consequences awaiting violators.
What is prohibited?
The Law of Ukraine 'On Amending Certain Laws of Ukraine Concerning Pyrotechnic Products' dated November 6, 2023, prohibits the use of pyrotechnics of classes F2, F3, and F4, including fireworks and firecrackers. Only certain types of pyrotechnics of class F1 can be used.
At the same time, the restrictions do not apply to the use of pyrotechnics by government structures for work needs, such as the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the police.
What penalties are provided?
For violating the ban, administrative or even criminal liability may be applied. For example, citizens and legal entities face fines from 85 to 510 hryvnias, as well as possible criminal liability for hooliganism.
Punishment for selling pyrotechnics
Sellers of pyrotechnic products also risk receiving fines and confiscation of goods. A fine from 595 to 1,020 hryvnias is stipulated for violating legislation on pyrotechnics.
Responsibility of children and their parents
Children from 16 years old bear full responsibility for the use of pyrotechnics, and from 14 years old can be held accountable for hooliganism. If a child violates the law, their parents may also be fined.
In case of witnessing the use of pyrotechnics, specialists recommend calling the police at 102.
A ban has been introduced in Ukraine on the use of many types of pyrotechnics due to the threat to public order and people's safety. Violating this ban can lead to serious fines or even criminal liability for both individuals using pyrotechnics and its sellers. It is important to comply with the legislation and avoid dangerous situations associated with pyrotechnics.
