Temperature continues to break records: second hottest May in history recorded.

In May 2025, the temperature on the planet broke all records once again. According to the European Climate Monitoring Service Copernicus, the average temperature exceeded pre-industrial levels by 1.4°C, making this month one of the warmest in the history of measurements. Even the previous month, March, was extraordinarily warm, but May surpassed it in heat.

Carlo Buontempo, director of Copernicus, emphasized that this is only a temporary phenomenon, but experts express concern about the situation in Europe, where some areas are facing significant drought and the lowest levels of precipitation and humidity since 1979.

“The rise in global temperature is a consequence of the continued use of coal, oil, and natural gas. According to the Paris Climate Agreement, countries are obliged to combat global warming. The EU has also agreed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as part of the Green Deal and achieve climate neutrality.”

Due to record temperatures, France and Japan are taking measures to protect workers from the heat by establishing new rules and penalties. Climatologists and NASA warn that some countries may become uninhabitable due to extreme global warming.
