On the night of Saturday, August 24, explosions occurred in the city of Kursk, triggering an air raid alert in the region. In some areas of Kursk, car alarms went off.
Governor Alexey Smirnov announced a missile danger and urged residents to take shelter in rooms with solid walls or in the nearest buildings.
In Telegram and other local sources, there were reports of explosions and videos from the scene were published. Some local residents observed bright flashes in the sky. Russian propaganda media quickly claimed that the air defense system shot down several aerial targets.
