Shooting in Mexico: mayoral candidate and three others shot dead
In the state of Veracruz, mayoral candidate Yesenia Lara Gutierrez representing the Morena party was killed. This was reported by 'Glavcom'.
The attack occurred during the election campaign when unknown assailants began shooting at attendees of the event. A video from the live stream on Facebook shows Lara Gutierrez greeting local residents on the streets of Tequistépeka before the shooting starts.
“The motive for this attack is currently being investigated,” noted Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. “The authorities promise to find those responsible for the murder of the candidate and her supporters.”
Torture ranch found in Mexico
Activists discovered a ranch in Mexico where the CJNG cartel allegedly tortured and burned victims. Relatives of the missing began searching the ranch for traces of their loved ones. After their disappearance, they found about 200 pairs of shoes, hundreds of clothing items, and dozens of suitcases and backpacks left behind by the owners. Ovens and human bones were also found. According to activists, this ranch may have been used by the CJNG cartel to train militants and torture victims.
The first case of myiasis in humans caused by screwfly larvae was recorded in Chiapas province. The infection was discovered in a 77-year-old woman. Doctors are already taking measures to combat this dangerous disease.
