Ukraine U-16 national team defeated Montenegro at the Four Nations Tournament.


The Ukraine U-16 national team completed its performance at the Four Nations Tournament held in Romania. In the first match, they lost to Poland (0:1), in the second they defeated the hosts (4:2), and today they played against Montenegro.
The Ukrainian footballers started the game actively. In the 5th minute, Artem Haponenko received a pass in front of the opponent's goal, but could not score. However, six minutes later he redeemed himself and scored a goal from a cross from the left flank - 1:0.
In the 29th minute, the Montenegrins made a mistake that led to a solo run by the forward past our goalkeeper Mykola Vukoje, and the county did not lose - 1:1.
Ukraine took the lead in the 67th minute. Nazar Rudzei fought for the ball and passed it to Artem Rybak, who skillfully outplayed the Montenegrin goalkeeper. The victory was sealed by Kyrylo Sarichev, who headed the ball into the net under the crossbar after a cross - 3:1.
Thus, the Ukraine U-16 national team took second place at the Four Nations Tournament with six points, losing to the Poles on additional indicators.
The next tournament for our young footballers will start on May 4. They will play against Greece, Finland (the host), and Hungary at the UEFA Development Tournament.
The Ukraine U-17 national team found itself in Group 1 of the Euro-2026 qualifying tournament. They will compete against Italy, Montenegro, and Estonia. The first host of the mini-tournament will be Estonia.
Ukraine lost to Belgium (0:3) in the away playoff match of the UEFA Nations League. Thus, Belgium secured its place in the elite Division A of the Nations League, while Ukraine remained in Division B.
