Onion and Carrot Prices 'Kiss': Basic Vegetable Prices in Ukraine Soar.


Ukrainian consumers are feeling the increase in prices for essential vegetables, which are important for many families, as reported by the Minfin portal.
Onions and carrots have always been popular among Ukrainians; they are used in almost all dishes and are essential ingredients for many meals, including borscht, soups, and salads.
According to monitoring data in May, the prices of onions and carrots have significantly increased compared to the previous month. The price hike for onions is particularly noticeable.
The price of onions jumped from 21.25 UAH per kilogram in April to 35.20 UAH in May. Prices for different types of onions range from 32.80 UAH to 39.90 UAH per kilogram in various chains such as Auchan and Megamarket.
As for carrots, their average price in May rose from 42.74 UAH per kilogram in April to 59.05 UAH. The most affordable price for carrots is in the Auchan chain - 48.20 UAH per kilogram.
At the same Time, in May, prices for mushrooms, unlike other vegetables, slightly decreased to an average of 138.95 UAH per kilogram compared to 150.55 UAH in April.
Significantly, prices for cabbage, onions, and cucumbers also experienced changes at the end of spring.
The Minfin portal reported that in May, prices for onions and carrots in Ukraine rose significantly, which may affect family budgets considering the popularity of these vegetables among Ukrainians. At the same time, the decrease in mushroom prices may be a convenient option for those seeking alternative products.
